i will not let my toes freeze like tiny ice cubes. they shall not freeze as they are wrapped up in fluffy socks that grandmamma brought for me one christmas. the christmas where i sat with lottie for hours playing with snow white and her dwarfs in a tiny thatched cottage. and the christmas where me and my soldier tried to dance. me and my polka dots walked to the town the other night. the world was covered in mist and we were cosey in earmuffs and scarves and thermals. but the frost still nipped at our noses and turned our cheeks rosey pink. the sky was so misty that the fireworks could not be seen, just faint blue and pink glows. like the fireworks were hiding. like secrets.
we all snuggled together and walked down the street holding hands. i am not very brave you see, not very brave at all, and i was so frightfully afraid of losing my darlings or getting lost that i held their hands all night. we went on the funhouse and i was terribly worried that they would not allow me to go on, as i am tall. but we giggled so much and had such fun that we ate bags full of pink twinkly candyfloss tied with little white strings.
i must be brave this week. i have tests at school and i am very worried that my tummy has butterflies all the time. i must be like lyra.

this was on my birthday. we are such silly girls*
